The Homes are super-insulated using argon gas filled double glazing, thick wall insulation and insulation above the ceiling and below the floor.
For insulation in walls, a product called WarmCel 500, made from recycled papers is used, to create an effect called Enhanced Vapour Transfer (EVT).
EVT Technology combine high levels of insulation with the ability to ensure any moisture that gets into the structure (something that happens in any inhabited building) always migrates safely to the external atmosphere where it is harmlessly expelled.
WarmCel 500 provide the perfect balance of vapour resistivity and permeability to achieve this effect. It has the ability to promote the migration of moisture through the structure. This unique combination ensures diffusion is maximised, in a controlled way, to make the structure as free to the passage of water vapour as possible.
Both the insulation and air-tightness makes for greater energy efficiency when it is cold and the slow mechanical extract fan ensures that there is a balance between losing heat and having enough air changes for healthy living.
